How to Make Your Own Rules

April 10, 2008

Becoming fit and striving for a new you and a new life involves making your own rules.  It means not accepting what the world gives you any longer.  Refusing to believe you have to accept what is offered.  Breaking the mold.  Forging your own paths.

If you look at the nutritional ingredients for a Hostess Apple Pie you’ll find it contains 480 calories with 198 calories coming from the FAT!  At least the nutritional ingredients given are honest by listing a single serving size.  There are many drinks and foods that trick you by listing a serving size of more than one…but the untrained eye thinks it’s OK because it’s only 200 calories.  Little do they know it’s actually 400 or even 600 calories when eaten at one time!

Eating right doesn’t mean you can’t eat your favorite food any longer.  What IT does mean is that you should find alternative ways to make that food by eliminating the fat, seeking new choices for the ingredients – or perhaps simply eating smaller portion sizes.  Socrates is credited with saying, “The unexamined life is not worth living.”  The more you seek fitness, the more you will find great recipes DO exist that are better for your body than Hostess Apple Pies.

If you have any alternatives/recipes you’d like to share, please share them in the comment section.
