Top 10 Ways To Gain Energy and Mental Focus

As a runner, you will invariably learn that despite your body’s physical abilities, the mental abilities you have can either make you that much better or leave you crying for mama. Here are a few tips I have learned to help on those days of needed energy or long runs:

  1. Visualize your run or obstacle beforehand
  2. Anticipate your surroundings
  3. Anticipate your pain and embrace it like a friend
  4. Break the run down into manageable distances
  5. Monitor your body for efficient movements
  6. Repeat a mantra that means something to you for motivation
  7. Imagine a rope that is pulling you forward
  8. Relax in the run
  9. Be present
  10. Realize the prize
