P90X Information

p90xYes, I love to workout to P90X.  The ability to get a good workout in the comfort of your home is priceless.  And it’s easier than you might think.  Wait, Jeff, won’t I need some equipment?

Great question!  Yes, you will.  To get started on P90X, here is what I would recommend you get to start:

Pull-up bar (available at most sporting good stores for about $30)
A few dumbbells between 5 and 25 lbs. to start
A dining room chair
That’s all you need to start!

Now, as you progress, or if you would like to be set-up with a nicer supply of equipment, here is what I use for my workouts:
PowerBlock dumbbell set – these give you weight options for weights 5 lbs. to 90 lbs.
Push up stands – for a deeper push up and more resistance to the chest
Yoga mat – not necessary if you have carpet, but it gives you more cushion
Yoga block – helps you maintain your balance and flexibility
Nutrition-wise, it is a whole new ballgame.  Most people new to working out or P90X will need to do some serious renovation to the cupboard contents and refrigerator.  It’s amazing the junk food we accumulate or are persuaded to try based on tasty looking ads or packaging.  Read the nutrition guide thoroughly and if you get confused, click HERE. Beachbody, the parent company of P90X has also assisted the nutrition aspects of this plan with some VERY tasty protein bars.  And, as you will hear about time and again, the P90X Recovery Drink is another great item to add to your plan.  Containing a unique mix of carbohydrates, protein, creatine and glutamine, it is the perfect combination to enhance your workout and help you grow real muscle to burn the fat.

If you have any further questions, check out my P90X/Beachbody Site.  Or email me at jpickett1968@gmail.com.  I’d be happy to help.

I just finished my first week of P90X! My body has never felt to strong in my life. I downloaded i90 Workbook from the App store on my iphone. I used to program to record my p90X workout stats and record my photos. I cant wait to see the difference in my body from my first week to my last week. I should finish just in time for the beach. Bring it!

Just downloaded your video podcast via iTunes and am awaiting P90X coming in the mail. I’m a little stumped about the index cards. Would you please email me a little more detail about this? Thanks!
